IoP makes the final decision and describes individually agreed awards, normally covering fees and living support for up to four years. Edinburgh also considers nominees for separate University-funded awards. The final funder, amount, duration, fee contribution (including international fee gap) and research grant are not guaranteed by internal nomination and must be confirmed.

Full tuition-fee contribution; 42-month tax-free stipend at UKRI rates; £4,200 research grant; international students’ own visa and NHS surcharge costs covered. The 2027/28 stipend, grant period, payment timing and reimbursement route are not specified.

General STFC terms: 3.5 years of Home-fee support and stipend, plus research training, conference and UK fieldwork support. The 2026/27 stipend reference is £21,805; 2027/28 is unconfirmed. Only a small number of international applicants may receive a full overseas-fee waiver; the 2026/27 fee gap is £19,012/year. Fletcher’s PDF states ERC, four years and UK eligibility, conflicting with the central STFC catalogue.

The MFC 2027 listing describes four years of full tuition, tax-free stipend and research/travel support, with limited competitive international places. Confirm the personal award’s 2027 stipend and overseas-fee terms in writing. The Horizon residency conditions do not include China; the Presidential Bursary is competitive fee-gap support only.
